COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Karen
Bourdon (Chairman), set up GEOTA in January 2000 to meet the overwhelming
demand for people wishing to learn more about complementary therapies
for animals. She qualified in 1998 in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals
with Caroline Ingraham. She has also trained with the with Kurt Schnaubelt
at the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy and at the Academy of Systematic
Kinesiology.
She has
worked with horses since childhood and has experience in both racing and
eventing yards. She breeds thoroughbred's and shire's at Horsehay Farm
and also assists in starting youngsters and schooling problem horses.
She has now set up a successful Equine Therapy Centre which specialises in Essential Oil Therapy. Karen has treated
hundreds of animals including horses, dogs, goats, sheep, cows, cats and even
chickens for various problems.
Lorretta
Perrella is a director of GEOTA.
She qualified in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals in 2000. She gained
experience working with Karen on many different cases over the last few
years and they together work as a team.
Lorretta
has an HND in Equine Science and has been working with horses for many
years. She also has an ITEC diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Body massage.
She has also trained with the with Kurt Schnaubelt at the Pacific Institute
of Aromatherapy and at the Academy of Systematic Kinesiology.
Nigel
Dodman MRCVS, BVSc, Cert Ed, Cert Vet Acupuncture. Nigel is the veterinary
consultant and lecturer. He has been practising acupuncture, herbal medicine
and homoepathy for 15 years both on a referral basis and in general practice.
Nigel
has worked with, and been involved in, the education of non-veterinary
therapists for many years. He is currently involved in the development
of post-graduate courses in acupuncture for veterinary surgeons and the
development of the Bowen Technique (a human soft tissue therapy) for animals.
Ian
Smith MSc, BSc, MISPA BSc Applied Chemistry, MSc Polymer Technology.
Ian is the honorary lecturer in Aromatic Medicine at Liverpool's John
Moores University. Ian is also subject area leader on a course that leads
to a diploma of Higher Education in Aromatic Medicine. Ian utilises his
knowledge of chemistry by teaching as part of diploma courses at a number
of schools, including two colleges of further education, across the country.
Ian has
had various articles published and has co-authored a book entitled Carrier
Oils for Aromatherapy. He is currently working on another book concerning
the clinical practice of aromatherapy with Gabriel Mojay.
Alice
Rugheimer Alice has ridden and cared for horses all her life. She
trained and qualified in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals under Caroline
Ingraham in 1999. She has taken a course in Reiki for animals and uses
this with her essential oil therapy, which combines very well. Alice has
also trained at the Academy of Systematic Kinesiology. She has worked
in publishing and is the Editor of our quarterly Newsletter.
Nayana
Morag - Trained
in essential oil therapy for animals in 1998 with Caroline Ingraham and
also trained with the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy and the Academy
of Systematic Kinesiology. Nayana specialises in behavioural problems
with animals and holds weekend workshops when she is England. At present she is living in Israel but regularly visits England.
