Tutor:  Sophie Pullen BSc (Hons) CertEd VN  and Sally Bowden BSc (Hons) CertEd VN

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th September 2007

This fun packed, informative 2 day course is a pre-requisite to the Diploma courses unless you inform us in advance that you have undertaken some training in Anatomy & Physiology.

This weekend will provide a great introduction for people that have had no formal training in animal anatomy & physiology.  Using the cat, dog and horse as examples, we aim to give you a basic overview of all the bodily systems and functions including:

The Musculoskeletal system - skeletal structure and movement.

The Nervous system and the five senses

The Cardiovascular system

The Digestive system

The Endocrine system

The Lymphatic system - immune responses and defence

The Genito-urinary system

The Reproductive system

We will also introduce you to some common veterinary terminology, so that you will be able to communicate more professionally with other animal health care practitioners and vets.

Cost:  £130 per person including a sandwich lunch.  Comprehensive course notes will be provided.

NATURAL CAT & DOG NUTRITION - A PRACTICAL SCIENTIFIC APPROACH

Tutor:  Nick Thompson MRCVS

Saturday 21st July 2007

When you go to your doctor, you are told to eat five pieces of fruit and vegetables a day; to avoid saturated fats, processed foods and too much meat. The government is at pains to improve the health of the nation through good nutrition.

When you go to your Vet you are given processed foods.

Discussions will look at what dogs and cats were designed to eat and why.  We will also look at what processed foods are and what they do and don't do.

We will look at an ideal natural diet and how to make it practical, economic and enjoyable for you to make and your pet to eat.

Cost:  £65 per person to include a sandwich lunch.  Comprehensive course notes will be provided.
