The Guild of Essential Oil Therapists for Animals (GEOTA) was established in January 2000 to act as a self-regulatory, governing body. It was set up to meet the overwhelming demand for people wishing to learn more about the use of essential oils with animals and offers the highest standard of education in it's field today. The following are some of the courses and benefits available to our members:-

  • Diploma in Essential Oil Therapy for Animals
  • Olfaction: Sense, Scent and Psyche Workshop with Professor Ann Hogdson
  • Essential Oil Science & Chemistry Workshops
  • Veterinary Clinics with Nigel Dodman MRCVS
  • Kinesiology/muscle-testing workshops

We provide a Quarterly newsletter where you can air your views and experiences

GEOTA has put together a database to record any suspected adverse reactions to the use of Essential Oils on animals. If you know of any suspected case please contact us giving full details.

We presented the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) with a paper asking them to accept full members of GEOTA to work alongside veterinary surgeons as paraprofessionals. This would mean a change in the law, and DEFRA would have to be convinced that it was desirable.

In the meantime we will train students to educate owners in the safe use of essential oils on their own animals - See Education and RCVS/GEOTA for further information.

Following the RCVS' suggestions, we are actively working on proving the safety and efficacy of Essential Oil Therapy for Animals. SEE NEWS UPDATE.
